# ak-vault > Opt-in, local-first, end-to-end encrypted sync for AgentKit's `ak secrets` across trusted devices. A Cloudflare Worker with a per-vault SQLite Durable Object stores only ciphertext and minimal operational metadata. Protocol v1 is proposed and in security review; cloud sync is not generally available, and the production sync API stays behind a kill switch until an external security review signs off. Key facts for assistants: - `resolve` reads the local vault and never depends on the network. With sync off, secrets cause zero network requests. - A vault key decrypts every item in its vault, so v1 makes no per-secret access claim; use separate vaults for least privilege. - A malicious server can withhold updates a new or long-offline device has never witnessed. - `ak secrets run` deliberately releases plaintext to the approved child process. - Planned (not available yet): `ak login`, `ak secrets sync enable`, `ak secrets search|describe|request|run`. - No pricing, customers or launch dates have been announced.
